There are many events in Toronto over the course of the year that celebrate the comics and graphic novel industry. The most common type is the comicons or comic conventions. While these are mainly events to buy comics and graphic novels, they often have writers and illustrators available for signings and panel discussions. Other events focus more on the writers and illustrators in their events. Below are three main events in Toronto that are either solely about comics and graphic novels or contain comic and graphic novel events.
The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is a week long celebration of comics and graphic novels and their creators, which culminates in a two-day exhibition and vendor fair featuring hundreds of comics creators from around the world. Other Festival events include readings, interviews, panels, workshops, gallery shows, art installations, and much more. Since 2009, TCAF has been held at Toronto Reference Library in Toronto, Canada, and presented by Toronto Public Library. It usually takes place on the second weekend of May every year.

The Word On The Street is a national celebration of literacy and the written word.
Each September, in communities coast to coast, the public is invited to participate in hundreds of author events, presentations and workshops and to browse a marketplace that boasts the best selection of Canadian books and magazines you'll find anywhere.
While it is not exclusively for comics and graphic novels it does often include publishers such as Drawn & Quarterly, one of the big graphic novel publishers in Canada.
