MGAD40: Management Control Systems

Welcome MGAD40!

Your assignment requires you to do deep research as a consultant to several units within the University of Toronto Scarborough, as well as community partners in Scarborough and Durham region. In particular, you are providing expert advice on procurement processes utilized with equity-deserving communities; on core success factors for the initiative; on a management control system designed within the stipulated parameters; and on the business risk of the initiative. You are also required to provide strategic recommendations and an implementation plan. This will involve finding articles and other information to support your case and analysis. 

Consider what is required for each of the following:

  • Performing market research 
    • Situational analysis with special consideration for vision, stakeholders and their preferences
    • Understanding of social purchasing and of building community wealth
  •  Designing a management control system for a non-profit
    • strategic control

    • personnel control
    • cultural control

  • Procurement approaches that fulfill the project goal
    • While promoting equity, diversity and inclusion
    • Taking into account research on local businesses and the building of a business inventory
