A guide showcasing resources that will assist you in the completion of assignments related to VPSC51: Curatorial Perspectives II

Welcome to Curatorial Perspectives II

This course focuses on the finer details of curating and/or collecting contemporary art. Students will delve into the work of selected artists and curators with an emphasis on the conceptual and philosophical underpinnings of their projects. Term work will lead to a professionally curated exhibition, or the acquisition of an artwork.

You are conducting numerous studio visits as part of this course. Prior to each visit, you have been asked to conduct some independent research that will help you assess the why the artist's work might make a meaningful addition to the DMG collection. You have been asked to gather the following information types:

  • Brief bio: details such as where they were educated, major awards, exhibitions, significant collections
  • Strengths and significance of work and critical issues addressed
  • Responses to the assigned readings
  • How the piece is relevant to the UTSC Art Collection

This Library Guide will assist you in this process.
