ChemDraw installation and renewal

A how-to guide on installing the latest version of ChemDraw and how to renew each year in November.

ChemDraw 16 Professional renewal for Mac users

After November, you can no longer renew your subscription with these instructions and must download a new copy (follow installation instructions) which triggers a new serial number/reg code (emailed to you and also found in the "My Downloads" on the Cambridgesoft site) which can then be used to activate the subscription again.

During November:

1. To renew Chemdraw you first need to retrieve your registration code.  Logon to the Cambridgesoft site with your email and password.

2. Go to "My Downloads" in the right hand side column.

3. Copy the registration code for the current version.

4. To renew your subscription, open Chemdraw.  You might get this message

Just close the window with the X - do not click on OK!  Your Chemdraw window should then appear.

2. Go to "ChemDraw" on the toolbar

3. Choose "Activate ChemDraw Professional"

4. The activate window should open with all the fields filled except for Company (optional) and registration code. Paste the registration code from step 3 (the Mac version will include a registration code)

4. Click on "Activate over Internet".

5. Check your new expiry date by returning to the Cambridgesoft site (step 1) and checking under "My Downloads".  The new date should be next November.

Troubleshooting

If the above method does not work (your expiry date did not change) then simply download a new copy of the Chemdraw 15 from the "My site subscription" link. Do not install it, just check and see if a new registration code was generated in the "My Downloads" and use that one to activate.

If you encounter an issue when renewing the software, contact Patricia Meindl, pmeindl@chem.utoronto.ca, for assistance stating your operating system and your ChemDraw version.
