Searching the Catalogue

Below is a review of how to find books in the catalogue from the the U of T libraries and the UTSC Library. If you have any questions, staff at the Reference Desk will be happy to help.

You can combine keywords using AND, OR, NOT. You can also click on Advanced Search to get a multi-field search screen. For example, here's a search for 'creole languages' in the catalogue.


Here are the results for all the U of T libraries:



Several Refine options are available, including by Library:


Note the subject list on the left. Click '+ more' to see what aspects of 'creole languages' are covered within all the books.

When you find a book that you like, check that it is IN and record the CALL NUMBER to find it in the library.

However, don't dismiss books that are available at other libraries! You can easily request them. The following book is at two different U of T libraries. Click on request:





















On the next screen, enter your Barcode and PIN numbers. Choose Intercampus Delivery, select UofT Scarborough as your pick up location, and enter an email address that you frequently check (you'll get an email when the book arrives). NOTE: Make sure that you order the book AT LEAST 3 business days (preferably a week) before you need it.
