3D Printing @ Gerstein + MADLab: Become Certified!

Step 2: Attend Safety Training

After familiarizing yourself with the details of the printing service's equipment, procedures, and policies, it's time to sign up for a quick safety training session in the MADLab. Here, you'll learn what to do and what not do when it comes to preparing a 3D design for printing, printing an object, and operating the equipment safey and properly. We also want to meet you and learn about your exciting 3D printing ideas!

Step 3: Pass the Knowledge Test

If you have attended safety training, you are ready to pass the knowledge test and become a certified user of the 3D Printing @ Gerstein + MADLab service.

Step 4: Reserve Time on the Printer

Click here to reserve time on one of the 3D printers. In order to ensure that the printers are only used by certified users, all reservation requests must be approved by 3D Printing @ Gerstein + MADLab staff. Please allow one business day for your reservation to be approved. 

Reservations must be made at least 2 business days (48 business hours) in advance, for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of 4 hours. 

Step 5: Print your Object!

Once your reservation is approved, you'll be all set to print your object. Present yourself to the Gerstein Information Science Centre's Loan Services desk with your t-card and proof of reservation (either a print out of your email, or your phone). You'll be asked to sign a waiver for the key that you'll use to let yourself into the MADLab. Find the right printer based on your reservation and get to work. Remember to follow all safety and printing regulations, and to share your work by filling out the log book and uploading a picture of your finished product to twitter using the hashtag #Gerstein3Dprinting.
