Industrial Relations (IRE 1610)

This subject guide is meant to assist students, particularly those enrolled in IRE 1610, with research papers and assignments.

Evaluating Your Sources

How do you decide which information to use in your research paper?

The CRAAP Test, created by a librarian at California State University, Chico, offers some helpful criteria for evaluating your sources:

  • Currency: The timeliness of the information.
  • Relevance: The importance of the information for your needs.
  • Authority: The source of the information.
  • Accuracy: The reliability, truthfulness and correctness of the content.
  • Purpose: The reason the information exists.

Journal Articles

Not all scholarly articles are peer reviewed, although these terms are often used interchangeably. Peer-reviewed articles are papers that have been reviewed and/or qualified by a selected panel of acknowledged experts in the field of study covered by the journal.
