Minimum Degree: Bachelor in progress



  • Must be enrolled at the University of Toronto Scarborough

  • Completion of the following UTSC course: MGFB10

  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills; must take initiative; must demonstrate superior commitment to service excellence and ability to problem solve; must demonstrate reliability. 

  • Must demonstrate an interest in financial markets.

  • Must demonstrate high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


  • Completion of or enrollment in the following UTSC courses: MGFC10, MGFC30

  • Proficiency in financial applications, such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, including certificates of completion of the Bloomberg Essentials Online Training/Bloomberg Market Concepts and FactSet Knowledge Base.

  • Experience working in the field of finance and customer service.


  • Student lab assistants will work to achieve the mandate of the UTSC Library Finance & Trading Lab by participating in the following duties:

  • Developing expertise in and assisting students with the use of financial programs and software such as, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, Rotman Interactive Trader, Rotman Portfolio Manager, ThomsonOne (equity research) and research databases.

  • Assisting with the planning, organizing and execution of special events, including workshops and speaker series.

  • Maintaining and updating accurate statistics.


The UTSC Library Finance & Trading Lab is a state of the art experiential learning centre for financial education and research at the University of Toronto Scarborough. The Lab provides a hands-on learning experience for students interested in finance and its real-world applications, while supporting the research needs of the UTSC faculty.
