Knotia is a platform for browsing or searching a broad range of Canadian accounting & tax information, including standards & guidance, handbooks, case law and news,
To search the tax content available in Knotia, use the 'Search all' link in the upper right-hand menu. Next, select the collection(s) relevant to you, e.g. Federal Income Tax Collection Platinum Student Edition (FITAC SE).
If you select FITAC SE under the Subscriptions tab, you will also have the option to search using advanced search options available through the 'magnifying glass' icon.
In the 'Search all' box, enter your keyword(s). Click on the '?" icon to see examples of advanced search options, e.g. phrase searching (" "), or the wildcard operator (*).
Use the LH menu or table of contents to drill down to see your search results in various portions of FITAC SE, e.g. Commentary, Case Law, etc. If multiple keyword matches are found in a document, use the '>' button to navigate from hit to hit.
Use the 'i' button besides sections of legislation to look for relevant references (case law, commentary, rulings) that involve that section or clause.
You can save documents in two ways. You can select boxes from the table of contents and click on the download button to save these. You can also , just select the text of interest, and then copy and paste this into a Word document. Knotia does not allow more than 10 documents to be selected for saving at one time.
