Research Assistance at the Library

As the librarian assigned to this course, I provide individual research consultations at the E.J. Pratt Library.

I can guide you through every aspect of researching your topic, including:

  • navigating any of the resources included in this guide
  • locating books, articles, and other sources
  • teaching how to determine whether a source is scholarly or not
  • resolving incomplete or inaccurate citations
  • and any other help you may need with research.

Writing Assistance

Students are highly encouraged to book an appointment at a writing centre, where you can receive individual consultation from a writing instructor:

  • the instructors will help you at any stage of writing your assignment
  • they teach students how to develop the ability to plan, organize, write, and revise written work i
  • t is best to book your appointment as much in advance as possible.

Citation Style Guides

Each academic discipline follows a specific style of citation. Some commons citation styles are:

  • footnote or endnote (Chicago)
  • internal note (APA, MLA).

The last page of your paper must have a bibliography or a works cited list:

  • each citation guide (also known as a manual) contains instructions on how to create one
  • it is important to use the latest edition of citation style guides, as citation rules can categorically change in new editions.
