Data and statistics can be a very useful addition to your research. Data must be carefully scrutinized to determine authenticity and validity. The list below highlights some important data and statistics sources for Canadian, American, and international jurisdictions.

Canada 

Statistics Canada

Canada's national statistical agency. In addition to news and community profiles, Statistics Canada provides access to CANSIM, maps and geography.

ODESI

Web-based data extraction and analysis tool. Supports various functions. Data is contributed by a number of Ontario universities.

United States 

Data.gov

US government's open data initiative. This robust resource continues to grow as datasets are submitted.

Economic Census

Data provided by the US Census Bureau, organized primarily by sector and geography.

Bureau of Justice Statistics

Criminal justice data for the US, covering all levels of government.

International

United Nations Data

Statistics and data from the United Nations, including information from the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, International Labour Organization, and the UN Statistics Division.

Economist Intelligence Unit (access with UTORid)

Economic, political, and business data with global coverage. Includes monthly economic reports for countries worldwide.

World Bank Open Data

Data and statistics from World bank. Includes a multilingual (Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, and English) open data portal with the ability to create and share custom reports with tables, charts, maps, and more.

OECD iLibrary (access with UTORid)

Source of economic and energy data. Data and can retrieved and analyzed in a variety of formats.
