Scanning OHEC Materials

A scanner and computer are available free of charge in the OHEC reading room. The materials in the OHEC are often rare or fragile. Please consult with a staff member before scanning.

  • The scanning software is pre-set to output multi-page searchable PDFs using Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
  • Scans will be saved in the “Scans” folder on the desktop of the OHEC computer.
  • Scanned files can be attached to an email, moved to online storage sites such as DropBox or Google Drive, or saved to a USB key.
  • Refer to the reference guide next to the scanner for instructions on setting up the scanner, scanning single, double, and multi-page documents, and editing images.

Please note that scans of OHEC materials are for educational and research purposes only. If you wish to publish images of OHEC materials, you will need to contact the copyright owner directly.
