Tips on searching for books, journals, articles, and e-resources from the Petro Jacyk Resource Centre

Find a book

You can perform your search by:
1. Title
2. Keyword
3. Author
4. Topic/subject
5. Call number

1. By Title

From the library homepage:
1. Go to Catalogue and click on Books.

2. Type in the title of the book. (For example, if you are looking for Kobzar by Taras Shevchenko, type kobzar in the search field).
3. Select Title from the drop down menu.
4. Click on Search.

3. By Author

From the library homepage:

1. Go to Catalogue and click on Books (as it is shown in the very first picture on this page).
2. Type an author's name in the search box. (For example, if you are looking for books by Milan Kundera, type either milan kundera or kundera, milan).
3. Set the drop down menu to Author.
4. Click on Search.

5. By Call Number

Browsing by call number allows you to locate library material on your topic in the library's collection. This can be compared to browsing books on shelves. Refer to the Robarts Stack Guide to locate a book in the Robarts Library 'stacks' (floors 9-13).

Books on the region are classed in the DJK and DK (history), and found on the 9th and 10th floor of Robarts Library. The PG class (literature) is on the 12th floor.

Note: You can also check WorldCat, the world's largest network of library content and services. It has 125 million items and is constantly growing thanks to the efforts of librarians and other information professionals. WorldCat helps you locate an item of interest and then finds it in a nearby library. It also lists resources in different languages.

You can access WorldCat for UofT use only if you are logged in with your UTORid or through any UofT library computer. Also, you can always use World Cat public version.
