Library 101: Digital Image Basics

Guide to best practices for cataloging images for research projects.

Session Content

This workshop  for undergraduate students provides basic information about digital images (file formats, file naming, resolution needed for printing versus PPT presentations, organizing image collections, downloading), copyright issues (fair dealing, creative commons and public domain), citing and referencing images (style guides), search engines specifically for finding images on the web (advance Google image searches) and some basic resources at the University of Toronto (FADIS, ArtStor, etc.).
